If you have less than a year expired I think you can just go thru the normal renewal. If you are past 1 year you have to go thru the entire routine. But if you have had your license for many years things have changed. I am on my 6th issue and when I took my test it was given by the USCG at MIO. Now you can go to any one of a number of facilities that are allowed to give the test. They have a very high passing rate. Good Luck Capt.
