When I went through the straits about a year ago there were approx. 15 ships heading in and out at that time. It took just about 1 hour to complete the transit so I would say 15 per hour or as a ballpark number of about 300.
To stay safe I would not want to go in and out with more the 2 ships side by side heading in and out at the same time. You could probably do more but not safely
