Mercury Verado vs Yamaha 4 Stroke?

Question:
I know Yamaha is a proven performer, but what about the Verado. It has been around a couple years now. How is it working out? Any chronic problems?

Answers:

is there and alternative to winterizing inboard boat engines?

The Verado is extremely heavy for its size and under powered. There are also very few shops authorized to perform service on the Verado. Of your choices the Yamaha is a much better bet. But for the best overall engine on the market check out the Evinrude E-TEC 2 stroke. It has a better power to weight ratio, costs much less in maintenance, and will leave both the Verado and the Yamaha far behind on the water. Do a little more research and talk to a few owners of each.

What is the cheapest way to build a submarine?

i couldn't agree more, the E-TEC is an absolutley incredible engine

After they make styrofoam, what do they ship it in?

I agree but you cant count out Suzuki, they were the ones who produced the Evinrude E-TEC. They also have the best financing options in the spring. Yamees are sick but only if you have the extra money. like you said they are the most proven in marine engines for a long time now!!

can you hear the submarine sonar sound inside a submarine?

I have not heard anything bad about the Verado's other than they are very heavy, expensive to rig, and on the low side of their horsepower ratings. The Verado uses a lot of very high tech rigging, such as drive by wire throttle and shift, power steering, etc. To me all that stuff is just something else that can break. I have a 25 h.p. Yamaha four stroke on my jon boat and absolutely love it. I've been running it four years and it has yet to fail me once. The E-Tec is also a very good engine as previously mentioned. I have the 225 HO model on my bass boat. It defiantly has some power and it's actually pretty fuel efficient.

ANyone can provide advice about changing the starter on a Volvo Penta 2002 Diesel engine?

Look into getting an E-Tech. The 2-stroke has out performed the 4 stroke in test. It weighs less and no service needed for 3 years. They use to come with a 7 year warranty. Can't beat that.
