I have a 1994 evinrude 90 HP oceanrunner outboard motor. The oil injection has been removed and I now have to mix the oil in the gas at 50-1 ration. With todays new synthetic oils can I use less oil in the mixture and If so what should the ratio be. I would like to reduce the amount released into the invironment. Any other advice would be appreicated, thanks.

Just use reg "OUTBOARD" oil, I too bought a 2005 50 HP and had the oil injection removed (old school is better), and mix the fuel myself. The fuel available today is THE WORST ever presented to us by the oil companies yet, alcohol likes to seperate from fuel, and if you leave it out, yu can see the layers form over a short period of time (water, alcohol, fuel), Keep at 50;1 just as if you were a "Chemist", and add "CARBON GUARD" fuel conditioner, this will keep everything "Carbon" free, and prevent those rings from breaking (something Johnson/Evinrude's are famous for), spark plugs will be squeeky clean too when you check them at the end of the summer, 1 oz treats 8 gallons of fuel so the stuff is pretty cheap. I'm not "BIG" on fuel or oil additives but, this stuff works, and you can see it working.I am looking for a owners manual for 1998 Bayliner 2052 Trophy any help out there...Thanks...?
No, and if you are buying synthetic you are wasting money. If you want to reduce pollution, get a smaller and newer engine or invest in oars.How do you repack the hubs on a boat trailer?
If it was me, I would stick to the 50:1 ratio. Unless you want an early retirement for your engine. Good luck to you. no use 50:1 and synthetic is a waste of money, if you do not want to damage the enviroment, then sell your boat and sit in the house, in the dark, without the a/c or heatwhat holds up a sail on a boat?
hey red, we might be cousins...i'm one too. the ratio should stay the same no matter what. for the environment concern, you'll have to can the 90. you'll need to go 4-stroke or one of the "clean burn" 2-strokes...like E-tec or opti-max or HPDI.whats the difference between starboard side?
I use pennzoil synthetic blend. It's about $9-11 per gallon. It say's that its cleaner and better for the environment. A couple other posters seem to not think so. I don't know, I'm not a chemist. I do know that once I started using the synthetic blend, smoke is almost non existant any more. I'm sold!More Questions & Answers ...
