I am not sure if you are in the UK or not. But if the numbers you refer to are SSR numbers (Small Ships Register), then the RYA in Southampton should be able to help you. Usually, ships which are in the Lloyd's Ships Register do not display their number on the hull, but if you have the number anyway, then contact the register in any one of the major registry ports such as London,. Southampton, Liverpool etc. Although it is not usual, private yachts can be registered in the Lloyd's ship register, I had a 42 foot sailboat which was registered this way.
