How does an oil tanker cargo such as Tanker Fame operates?
Is this in an outboard? If so the problem is that the steering cable shaft has siezed in the motor. You need to get it out of the motor housing and extend the cable all the way. remove the old grease with solvent and the re-grease. In the motor you have to get the old hardened grease out. In extreme cases I have had to use a drill bit to get the old grease out. You do take a chance of ruining o-rings in the motors cable housing but you have to get that old grease out. Make sure you grease it all up good when putting it back together. Use a good marine or silicone grease. The engine pivot may also be seized. In the past I have heated up the housing and pumped grease in at the same time. You have to work the engine back and forth to losen it up while doing this.I have a 2002 johnson 50hp motor that will start but won't idle?

It looks like you used up the movable parts on the steering. It seems to me that that nut you are working with should be turning when tight, and is restricting your wheel by binding when trying to use it. Is there a grease zert under it, or around it? If so try putting lite grease in it with a hand held grease gun while turning it. If you cannot break it lose, may I make a suggestion. It is possible the rest of your steering may need replacing. If so, I would recommend checking into hydraulic steering. I put it on my bass boat last year. Its easy to install, works great, and there is no feedback when on plain. It runs about $700 to $800, and you can install it yourself, tho you will need a friend to help. Good luck.Go and get some PB blaster or a good penetrating oil and let it have it man. Then spray it down with a rust inhibitor. If it still wont work replace the cable, bass pro or any boat dealer can sell you one.Note: let that penetrating oil soak in and try to work the steering over several days if necessary.
