Question:
I live on a peninsula and it makes just as much sense for me to commute by boat as it would by car or bus. But what's the price tag for a daily boat commute of 10 miles in and ten miles back out? Would it be a lot more expensive than by car?
Can anyone advise?
Thanks.

Water has a lot of friction, thats why boats don't have brakes, a car is more efficient by far, plus two stroke motors (outboards) spit about 25% of their fuel out the exhaust.
Is there any financing for boats with shaky credit if I put a big down payment?
Ahhh McLaren could be right...BUT....Lets answer your question with a little in depth look. Mine is an 85 hp outboard pushing a 15' ski boat..fuel consumption is approx. 40 miles per 6 gallons of gas at cruise speed. NOW....this all would vary greatly depending on the size of the motor AND the boat. Also in what combinations you apply boat vs motor. I also have an air cooled 1.2 hp outboard that will push a 12 john boat around almost all day (at walking speed) so see. Another thing to think of are the auxiliary costs of both. Insurance? Mandatory on a vehicle...not a boat... tires? boat has none. Then throw your bike in with you and try it...I love water so I know I would give it a shot...& then decide for yourself. You may find it more relaxing and pleasurable to commute that way...no traffic jams...hope this helps yaMore Questions & Answers ...
