Where can I find a maker of boat curtins?

I was cutting across the "FLATS" trying to beat the darkness back in when I saw a jet ski floating in a strange spot with no driver, nobody around, dusk, I stopped, shut down, listened, and heard faint cry's for help, ! saw a nearby man barely waving, with his face covered in blood, I zipped over, grabbed onto him like a hydraulic vice, I could'nt get him into the boat, he was screaming with very bad injuries, and almost in shock (He hit a bouey he did'nt see), I could'nt hold his head above the water and get to the radio at the same time, so I used my cell phone on my hip and got the Coast Guard, it was hard because the call kept dropping but, they got a fix on me, and were there in 10 minutes, I was hard to spot cause my boat is small and low (15' Boston Whaler), we strapped the victim on to a backboard but, could NOT get him on the coast guard boat because the water line (freeboard) was too high, we lifted like crazy (3 of us) and I was able to get the backboard on my boat (Boston Whalers are GREAT boats), and they said bring him in' we'll escort you, I nailed the throttle and went down the creek as fast as I could to a waiting ambulance, a Dr was there, the guy broke his hip and would have drowned for sure, the Coast Guard thanked me "Nice grab Sailor", and the person survived, his mother called me up and tearfully thanked me for saving her son's life, as did the boy. "Ah I had nothin to do anyway" I told them, a news crew was at the dock w/ the police when we pulled in, so I got my 15 minutes of fame. It felt great to save a life ! the coast guard aux. called me and asked if I would like to join, I said "SURE" !

Hi I have a mariner 40HP outboard approx 1985 recently fitted with a rectifier.?

I have plenty of memories of great boating days. The line snapping off the outrigger when the sun was setting and a nice fish took the lure. Moonlight cruises or meteor showers on a moonless night. Making the harbor after navigating in thick fog.Great times with family and friends. The best feeling I ever had was when I was in the USCG and a boat engineer on a 41UTB. The 41 was a great improvement over the old open 40's we had but since it was relatively new it was untested in very rough weather. I was stationed at Eatons Neck on Long Island NY and a hurricane was coming. We were ready and the base was secured. Looking out at the sound no boats were out, a good sign. Who would go out when a hurricane was coming. Well about 10 minutes after the storm hit the mayday alarm went off. We ran to the boat and got underway in very strong winds and rain that was going sideways. 3 Small boats had stayed out fishing (apparently unaware of the huricane!) and were now anchored off Stratford Shoals Middle Ground (off Port Jefferson) in 12-18' seas. It took us hours to get there and they were the biggest seas I had ever been in. After awhile I realized the boat could take it and so could we. We located the 3 boats and Jim Stellene the coxswain was able to get alongside each of the boats. We would be on top of the wave and the smaller boats would be in the trough, down low. We had to have each person jump to us and we would catch them and pull them onboard. The first time we tried it 2 people jumped at once and myself and the seaman grabbed one arm of a jumper and held onto the boat with the other. Luckily we could pull them up and we didn't lose anyone. We got all the people off their boats and headed in to Port Jeferson leaving their boats anchored in the sound at the mercy of the storm. When we got in and dropped off the people we had the best hamburgers ever at a local pub and then headed back out to return to base. It took us another 3-4 hours to get back (should have been an hour) and after a very long day we hit the rack.
There were many more rescues and special assignments, lives saved and lost, but that day I learned alot about a new boat (the 41) and myself and crew.

The best times are with people you love. Setting out at dusk for a picnic on the water with the wife. Landing on a deserted beach somewhere and building a bonfire with the wife and kids, singing kum-bah-yah. If you love skiing, fishing, tubing or swimming, a boat is the way to go. Most people don't like this, but I love being out in the gulf of mexico, far enough so you can't see land, and diving into the deep blue water and floating around my boat with the wife and kids. I also enjoy scuba diving on the oil platforms here in the gulf. Wonderful times. Oh, I almost forgot, Fourth of July, anchoring right next to the barge or aircraft carrier, wherever they are setting them off, and watching the show from the front row.
