to convert to gas to disel, you are going to have to change the whole engine; cause diesel is a whole other octane.

If you bought a boat or airplane that the previous owners had used for smuggling and you found some valuable?

It can be done, but you would have to find a gm diesel coupled to an outdrive, as the bolt patterns for the diesels are different. Stay away from the 350 diesels, they are troublesome. However, you have to keep in mind your weight restrictions as far as balancing your boat goes. Diesels are significantly heavier than gasoline engines, and you may have to ballast the front of your craft.

Can anyone tell me how to build dock for a farm pond out of plastic 55 gal drums?

I did it to my boat. Lots of work. 1. I got a Nissan automotive engine since Japanese engines are very reliable. 2. Marinized the engine as my boat is a salt water craft. Lots of work here like installing a sealed fresh water cooling system, water jacketed manifolds, marine battery systems, wiring, switches, etc. Mounting the engine is a major problem - esp. to align with the stern drive. 3. Get a diesel stern drive as the petrol one runs on a higher RPM and diesel engines run at lower RPM's. Else your boat won't plane. 4. Change all meters, gauges, fuses, etc.to diesel calibrations. 5. Take out the old fuel tank, get rid of the old gas and wash it and then make a return fuel line because diesel engines have a return fuel to the tank that gasoline does not have. 6. Then you have to consider weight balance, vibrations, changing all accessories that ran on gasoline, heat and ventilation management (diesel engines are hot) turbo installations, aand much more things you have not thought about.
Is it worth the hassle? Once you get into it, you have to see it through because you have already spent the time, the money and the aggarvation.
