As to the horn going off, I cannot be sure, but I suspect it could be a malfunction in the oil warning horn. You say this happens hot or cold, so I assume the engine is running ok and has oil in the tank if it is oil injected. It could be a short in the wiring. The misfiring above 2300 rpm is electrical in nature. Power pack or stator. The stator has a high and a low side. 2500 rpm is at about the crossover point, so my guess is that the high side of the stator is faulty. Any good marine dealer can test for this if they know what they are doing. I would sure try to find out what the horn is all about before running the engine. They don't call them warning horns for nothing, you know. I'd hate to see you fry your motor!making a fiberglass canoe what laminate should i use?
could be several things. maybe a faulty heat sensor in a head. maybe an oil level alarm, real or erroneously. these are wired into the power pack, which could also be faulty. when the pack is signalled by any of the sensors, it is rpm limited to about 2500. these are common sense troubleshooting items but i would recommend seeing a pro with it.Can a ship sail with only one engine?
