2000 Johnson 90hp Ocean Pro oil circulation check valve.?
The fastest easiest way to get into the Marine Business is1) If you don't mind being away from home, look into oil field supply boat companies in Louisiana or Texas. You'll work hitches of 28 days on 14 off, or 14 on and 7 off, and sometimes you can stay on as long as you want then go home for a while. They'll hire individuals with little or no experience as deckhands where you can learn a lot and can advance from there. They pay is great-- about $100 to $150 a day and if you work up to a mate or captains position you can potentially earn over $300 a day.
2) If you want to be home every night, look into seaside or river cities such as Chicago, IL. ,Savannah, Ga. , St. Pete, Fl., Etc... However, the pay is not nearly as good and it takes a whole lot longer to advance. (YOU HAVE TO SHOW SEA TIME IN ORDER TO ADVANCE TO HIGHER LICENSES SUCH AS CAPTAINS OR MATES.)
A place to start looking online would be OFFSHOREMARINEJOBS.COM. Here you can search the port areas your looking to work in, and search by job titles.
Offshore companies: International Boat Rentals, Seacor Marine, Edison Choeust, Tide water Marine, Bordelon Marine.
I advise after getting 90 days of working sea time try to obtain your Able Body Seamans license and that will allow you to work on many different kinds of boats. Its a very general but very useful license to have!
Good luck.
Need website on getting captains liscence certification?
There is alot to do even just to get started. The previous answer was good if you stay close to home. The other option is to go deep sea and travel the world. Entry level work is very hard and dirty so I would say upgrade as soon as possible. The links below should be a good place to start. What ship has two mates but not a captain?

How much does a submarine cost?
Check out Norwegian Cruise Lines. They are hireing all the time, and pay for your travel and schooling in Maryland. There, you can get your coastguard papers, then be sent out on a ship in Hawai'i in the kitchen, bars, restaruants,laundry... Not a real seafaring job, but you do get your papers and a chance to see if you like it. It's hot here now! After you have the papers, check out Seafarers international union or one of the other unions, or the supply boats as one person suggested.More Questions & Answers ...
