Anyone know if you can buy a plug in speedo for a 2002 YAMAHA 15HP 2 stroke outboard?

My engine has got a connection for electrical items such as a fish finder etc and i was interested to know if you can get speedo's for it? and if so what one and where would i buy one? thanks very much for any help.

Yes, as long as you have got a line, or outlet, which gives you a 'pulse' for instruments (usually these emerge from the control panel where the electric start and emergency stop-switch lanyard are) then you can connect up anything you like. Instruments are all pricey though, and you will not find a speedo' that will be very accurate at the sort of speeds that are typical from a 15hp engine. Speedo's are really for craft that can reach the 20 to 30 mph ranges. But anyway, you get them from the dealers. In your case Yamaha marine dealers - look in yellow pages for your nearest, or on Yamaha UK website, etc.

(Note, if you have a good GPS, you should be able to get this to give your speed and they are quite good, even at 6 - 8 mph ranges).

Do you mean speedo or rev counter? If you have a charge facility you should be able to run a rev counter from it . For a speedo your engine would need to be fitted with a pitot.(a little ,usually plastic,pipe,anywhere below the cavitation plate) The big V4 engines have them as standard-don`t know about 15`s. Your local Yamaha dealer would have either-if they are available for your model.
