The proper way to wire two 12 volt batteries to make 24 volts is get a short cable long enough to go from the neg side of battery 1 to the pos side of battery 2 . Then connect the neg wire from the trolling motor to the neg side of battery 2 and connect the positive wire to the positive side of battery 1.
