Science teacher is right. You would be off by .55 of a mile. I did not plot this problem out but did it like this. If you went 90 degrees off course for 2 hrs at 25kts you would be 50 miles off. If you went 45 degrees off course for 2 hrs you would be 25 miles off course. Divide 25 miles by 45 degrees and you get .555555 miles per every degree off course. 1 degree is .55 mile off.
