Mast position on yacht?

i have a tanton 37 and am altering the rig from a freedom rig to a sloop. having a problem getting info on the positioning of the mast. anyon e with ideas

You need to contact someone who has information fom the original boat manufacturer. Have you searched online for anything on Tanton 37? Is there a misspelling there? Tartan37?

Need to know underwater shape to balance the center of sail area with the center of lateral resistance. If not in line, you will have a permanent weather or lee helm. The structural shape of the hull will have to be changed. A freedom rig requires much heavier framing than a stayed mast. Moving the mast will require a different keel support system and will leave excessive framing in the old position. The deck/hull connection must be able to withstand the increased stress from new rigging. I recommend saving your money, sell your existing boat and buy one that meets you new desires. I suspect the alteration costs will be more expensive than buying a used sloop.
