I have a Honda 150hp outboard motor. The trim indicator gage on the dash does not register properly.?

The switch on the motor was replaced last fall, but didn't get a chance to use it till now. Could the gage be bad. It always registers as the motor trimmed all the way up or down. Could there be a bad connection on the wiring? Thanks for any input.

You can exclude the wiring because if gauge is jumping, then some signal is sent, so the wiring is OK.

Also, you can check if gauge is good by briefly connecting 'I' and 'S' terminals on the back of the gauge. If arrow pegs out, the gauge is most likely fine.

The ohmmeter should show variable resistance.
