i would say putting them in context to females is a generalization. i would say that the majority of ship owners are males, and since they LOVE their ships, and LOVE women as well, then they refer to their ships as "Her name's the SS whatever".. so we're probably just used to hearing the feminine side, but who knows, referring a ship in a masculine manner won't throw you in jail right?There are male and female objects.
