Question:
i have a evenrude outboard motor 1971 i had engine rebuilt but never winterized or started it since then, it has been over 3 years....... boat hull i have is bad but should i keep the motor and try to use it, try and sell it (is it worth anything) or just trash it?

20 knots - possible with a displacement hull boat?

Don't toss the engine. The worst that might need to be done after sitting so long is to have the carbs cleaned out from gas that has turned to varnish after sitting. And there is always someone that would buy it, running or not.

Does anyone have any photos of Quiet Light, the boat from Herbert woods on the norfolk broads?

Inflatable raft?

If you can start the motor, sell it. Unless you are going to purchase another boat. With the boating season coming up, it's worth something for sure. Check with local marina and see if they have a 'bulletin board' that you can post a notice to for FREE. They also should be able to give you a worth factor of the engine.

Is a 350 Chevy Mercury Marine motor & a 350 Chevy Car motor interchangeable? What are the differences?

It should be fine.I have several motors that only get used every three or four years on limited lakes. They always work fine.I keep mine in the garage but they are pretty much waterpoof or should be.It wouldn't hurt to at least try it.Could save you alot of money in the long run.

We were grandfathered in on a houseboat 3 years ago & now they want to kick us out of the harbor. Is it legal?

you said you had the engine rebuilt, so junk the craft and sell the engine

Mercury motor oil injection system question?

See if it starts, which it should but since it sat up I doubt it. I help my dad with his business ( boat repair business.), and when people let them sit, and they have no winterizations, they tend to rust the lower unit. I mean people might buy it, but seeing its an older model, its slim. A lot of boat repair shops wont fix something that old, but of course some still do. I mean I would give it a shot.... Yet start it and see how it does. If it runs, sell it. If it doesn't, try to sell, and if that fails get rid of it.

I need help with an outboard motor!! AAArrrggh!!?

You can try and fire it up, if it has been winterized there will be no problem, if you just let it sit, the fuel has varnished, and the gas lines have probably rotten, a motor from 1971 is NOT worth much.

What would the letters vk stand for on an american licence plate?

i would have a mechanic look at it, not being used for three years just sitting, and a 1971, i would say sell it do not worry about it
