This section is for serious boating enthusiasts to ask and answer serious boating questions. This sort of nonsense really angers me.
What is your question?
If you have one at all, it does NOT belong here.

Hopefully you'll be fortunate enough to find out your answer when your time comes. What kind of boat was in "DEAD CALM"?
What on earth does this have to do with boats... ??Is Telegraph still being used on Ships?
But, OK, i'll grant that sailing alone at night does tend to encourage you to ponder the infinite, I'll take a shot at this one. (Actually, sailing alone at night tends to bring to mind a huge, vast, incredibly enormously, big chart of the universe, with a teeny, tiny, fly-speck of a dot on it, marked "You Are Here". Very good for the personal perspective, night sailing.
Alcohol helps.)
"Straight up" is actually a line starting at the centre of the earth and passing upwards through the bit you're standing on.
Where can find the Boat Sheet in south east asia?
Thus, since the earth rotates continually, "Straight up" is a constantly changing direction, sweeping a plane in the cosmos every 24 or so hours (OK... If you want to be picky, it actually describes a rather complex bent spiral, because 24 hours later, the earth's in a different place - but it's late, the maths is really tricky, and I'm tired)
Repairing Cracks on a fiberglass boat?
Since such a line, by definition, has no end, there's no answer to "how far". Since we can't see, or observe, or even infer that far, that's why we invented the concept of infinity, to make it easier to handle with limited human brains. The exact mathematical sequence is:
"One billion miles... two billion miles... a googolplex miles... a lot of miles... a bloody long way"
Unless, of course, space-time is curved, in which case, go far enough, at infinite speed, for some instantaneous value of "straight up", and you'll come around underneath yourself, much to your own surprise.
"There was a young fellow named Bright
Who could travel much faster than light.
He went out, one day, in a relative way
And came back, the previous night. "
Which grade of stainless steel is more suitable for sea water service?
There are an infinite number of dimensions all expanding at the speed of light. Each dimension contains the exact same thing as the other dimensions except one small thing different. If you read this answer twice instead of once a new dimension will be formed to follow that form of reality. If you were able to travel far enough fast enough you would eventually find yourself married with 20 kids to that girl in high school who dumped you for a night alone washing her hair. Can any 1 think of a funny name for my boat as it doesnt have 1 just now?
Or, the universe only contains one particle that is moving really, really fast and makes up everything a fraction of time apart. Up, down, here, there are abstract unrealities since all is one.
Did you smoke your breakfast?
How many yacht marinas are there in the U.S?
I think you need to stop smoking and start sailing! The cosmos is too big for some people. I suggest reading the Bible or Koran more, don't look up at the night sky and wonder because you obviously can't handle those universal concepts, but page turning is easy.
Everything you need to know is in your hands. If that is a comfortable thought for you I'll just return to my study of an event horizon math' model.
P.S. - We use bigger numbers than 'trillions'.
