I am in my mid 40's. I am travelling on a 40' boat for several days. What things should I take to keep myself occupied? I am bringing a journal, a camera, and all the necessaties. I am worried about what I can do though to stay busy. Thanks for any help!

if you want to spend the money, buy your won GPS, just for fun to track where you are and where your going, some have MAPS on them and they can also give MPH, and all sorts of stuff, but that could be over 200 dollars, how about your own binoculars so you can look far away to the horizon and look around, and of course a few paper back books, maybe your own snacks, so at midnight if your hungry you can just get your own stuff..TWO pair of sun glasses maybe one not so expensive just in case they go over board, and seeing that I said that, get those ( I think they call them Bull Frogs) they are sun glass keepers that go on the arms of the glasses and around your neck, but these are made for boaters so if your glasses fall overboard..they FLOAT ! if you get seas sick make sure you take the meds BEFORE they do not work well if you are already sick and try to fix the problem, it does not do that...
take the time that is given you and RELAX...if you have a few hours of nothing to do, just sit back and look around and relax, reflect on your life and stuff...RELAX....
bring a deck of cards with you, it could be a regular game of cards or WHO knows what may happen once the sun goes down

even when you are idle, the time passes fast, enjoy your journey, and forget the staying busy stuff.
First, make sure you have a life jacket, as well as a warm, hooded windbreaker and shoes with rubber soles. When I was younger, we did a lot of weekend boating and always stopped by our local library in search of a couple of good books to read. I'm assuming there will be at least one other person aboard, so a game of Scrabble can be entertaining. And, if you enjoy doing crossword puzzles, you might want to purchase up a book of them at your nearby Barnes and Noble, Borders, Waldenbooks, etc. Last, but not least, an obvious choice would be a simple rod and reel -- catching fish is a lot of fun and saves a trip to the grocery store for dinner. Remember to bring along some bait! Bon Voyage!

When I had free time I had a cross word puzzle book and a couple of hand held electronic games battleship and las vegas slots. I could keep these in the cockpit so I wouldn't be stuck in the cabin oblivious to what was going on outside.
