Question:
i was told the spin shouldn't move the boat. i also have trouble putting it into nutral. where does the water shoot out from the motor and how much? thanx
Answers:
Dose anyone know a good wood mechanic?
Sounds like you have control box cable alignment issue going on. I would check to see if the cable was inserted into the box incorrectly and make adjustments to get the transmission of the out board to match the control box in neutral. I have heard of people who have taken apart the lower unit and maladjusted the gearbox shaft in the lower unit when putting it back together. It causes trouble matching the cable box to the lower unit so forward is good but it has trouble finding neutral and reverse will actually grind and have trouble engaging or not engage at all. The engine might start up in gear and the prop can't stop turning. If this is the problem, you need help readjusting the lower unit shaft to correct the shifting problem.Does anyone know a name for my boat?
if you are in nuetral it should not spin when motor is on . have you changed your lower unit gear oil? did you take out the correct screws?i have a newer merc and my water comes out a spout about 1 foot above the water level.if you arent taking in water you arent going to see any come out then u have a real bad problem! cosult with a local mechanic.
