Question:
a 1989 envirude 175 outboard ignition coil ohms? I test my old one and it shows 189 ohms I brought two new ones and it shows 197 ohms. the other four has 214 ohms. either my old one are good or the new ones is bad before I use them. any ideas?

make sure you are using a decent meter, on the high setting on the meter you shoudl have between 225-325 ohms....on the low setting with the coil mounted and not connected to the ignition coil, you should get a reading of .1 ohms +/- .05 ohms, (the red lead should be on the primary terminal and the black should be on a good engine ground..make sure they gave you the right coils for your engine....also try the pwoer packs they go bad more so than the coilsdoes it have to be constantly cold to crack a boats engine blockj?
Looks to me like they are all PROBABLY good, ie 200 plus/minus 20 ohms. If the coil were open you would get an extremely high or infinate reading. If it were shorted you'd read less than 10 homs. Your source for the coils should be able to tell you the specification.Anyone have trouble with Bayliner Boats?
check from the plug wire to the ground...should be 1 or less. other than that, they're all good. find the specs. on the timer base and stator. if they test good, you have a bad power pack...or two.More Questions & Answers ...
