Question:
the boat was in the water for a long time without being use, maybe it was the diesel that was not used for a long time provoking all these fumes
Answers:
how many u boat were built in the last war?
You mentioned Diesel. I will assume it is. If it is putting out dark/black exhaust it sounds like it is getting to much fuel..Can't imagine why the injectors or the pump or pump timing would have changed from sitting. Has anyone, by chance, put something in your tank,ie: additives.?? If the tank isn't to full, I'd pump the fuel out and put in known good fuel.. It should clear up in short order. Shame to WATS good fuel. If you live in a cold area anyone with a waste oil burner would gladly take the old fuel off your hands.. Green houses, garages, some farmers..I am assuming that the engine is running warm.? If not, it will run rich and smoke 'till it warms up...Warm it should run light Grey to none except when you accelerate, then it will be dark for a short period. A few seconds...where can i find a perkins diesel manual to look at and download?
Maria change the oil and filters and flush the engine with special mixture from motor factors .That should clear the smoke .the best marina's/ports in the world?
It is burning oil probably a a broken piston ringhow do you control a ship, do you sail it,pilot it, drive it ?
before you dump the fuel, use an additive that unsticks rings. if it wasn't smoking before, there is probably no permanent damage, just a stuck ring or two. good luck.on the tilt and trim this is a 50 hp mariner this has a single ram how do you bleed this system?
Before you jump into the drastic measures suggested slow down. Always look for the simplest cause first. Dark smoke indicates to much fuel, or not enough air getting into the engine. When was the last time you checked the air silencer or air filter? Give that a check, if needed start it up without the filter/silencer on. Since it has been sitting so long is the exhaust pipe clear of marine growth or plugged with anything else? Many times the dark smoke is simply carbon from idling with no load on the engine. If you can take it out for a spin and get it up to operating temperature. Chances are the smoke will be gone in short order.how can i strip all the old paint off my outboard engine i tried a heat gun but wont come off?
i work for a british boat builder and we use volvo penta engines if it has been lying for a long period the deisel starts to seperate in the filter it should clear after five to ten min. if not it chould be more serious and be a blown turbo on the engine if so contact volvo they are always very helpfull and can advise you over the phone .Were there "hippies" in Russia in the 60´s?
Well, as mentioned above, check filters first but, I suspect bad fuel.RUN THE BUGGER
