I have to make the assumption that there are trees on your island.Trees that are already down are best to make your raft.Trees that you would cut down yourself would be green,and thus less bouyant.Rope could be made from the bark of trees.Just strip it off in strips about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch wide,and braid those strips together.Several peices of this rope can then be braided again to make it even stronger.Tie your pieces of wood together with your rope,and voila! A deathtrap...er RAFT!

No but with only I knife it would be almost immpossible because the only avaiable wood on a tropical island would be Palm trees and they have hard thick trunks. Although it might me possibleto burn them down.
