Question:
Assuming someone is a beginner, or intermediate level boater, how difficult is it to navigate around the coast of Oahu (out in the open ocean)? I've never driven a boat, but I would love to do this sometime.
150 hp mercury motor wont stay running after winter could it be bad gas?
I'm thinking I would have to take safety classes and get licensed, the obvious stuff. But is such a trip (navigating partly or wholly around Oahu) a dangerous trip? Would it be fun? Dangerous? A marathon? Has anyone done it?
Any real world experience with boating in Oahu and doing this kind of thing is appreciated.

What is thee most desirable RV trailer,5th wheal, motor home or camper?
first of all, you going to have to factor in a bunch of things. 1) weather. Depending on time of year, certain areas are NOT going to cooperate. 2) 18 feet means you are going to have limited gasoline on hand. Probably wont do it. probably get you to about 1/3 of the island and unless you have someone chasing you (meaning driving the the next dock with cans of gas), wont happen. 3) season. come back to time of year but you have to watch out for whales. serious penalties if you break the 100 yard mark with whales. Right now until almost the end of April, lots of whales. be careful going around the eastern corner(Makapuu side) since you run into the molokai channel and its considered one of the strongest currents in the world. How big does a vessel have to be to be considered a ship?
Would i say dangerous? probably not. but dont expect to make too many friends if you in a speed boat going around the fishing boats. make it a cruise and launch out of hawaii kai and have someone drive your trailer to sand island. thats about 1/3 of the way and you get to cruise right in front of hawaii kai. Just have a depth finder. if you can find the 40 fathom ledge and cruise over past waikiki, you are golden. awesome views!
