on a 24foot walkaround what is cheaper to operate a v8 I/o or a 250 outboard?

my preference would be to have it shrink wrapped and stored in my yard where I know what is going on with it and when I want to do this or that I just go out my door and able to do it on my schedule, but some people believe a moderated heat and moisture storage facility is better, BUT then what you paid for that you could of run your boat many hours instead with the savings
