I am making a small wooden boat and want to cover it with fibreglass shell?
ronnie d is incorrect and doesnt know what he is talking about! Fogging oil in the motor shows you care for your engine and plan on it being around for many years.Your motor will smoke when you start it, but that is normal. It is burning off the Fogging oil. If after running awhile you notice it missing, check your spark plugs, sometimes it will foul them and they may need replaced. I fog my boat motor every year and have never had any problems. Also drain and replace the gas and lower end lube.
Hope this helps!
1975 johnson outboard motor repair?
you should just go for another engine fogging oil is signs of engine problemsJust start it up, {everything should be ok from last years storage] . It will smoke alot in the begining (fogging agent) Happy boating..
What causes my carburators to seeam to hold back power?
I always change the oil. If possible drain the old gas out. If you can't use some dry gas. Depending on where you live water likes to build up in both places. Water is an enemy of an engine.Where to find info on sailing yachts late 19th and early 20th century paticularly owners and crews ?
Fogging & flushing in the Fall, has made the engine ready, I would install new spark plugs "Do NOT over torque" (After you fire her for the 1st time, as it will smoke a bit), change lower unit oil, check the prop, grease all fittings with marine grease (Especially the "Tilt Tube", and "Swivel pin'). If you have over 80 hours on the "Water Pump" (about 40 hrs =1 season here), it should be changed out, as it is the weakest link on an outboard. Be safe, wear your P.F.D. at all times, and have FUN !More Questions & Answers ...
