Always check with the manufacturer's recommendation for your truck. There are different towing hitches for different weights also, just insure you have the proper hitch on your truck. Remember when towing a boat a gallon of fuel weighs 7 pounds (50 gallons, add 350 pounds if you fill up in tow), trailers for 18 to 21 footers weigh up to 1,000 pounds, up to 28 footers, trailers can be 1,200 to 1,500 pounds.Brochures for boats usually indicate boat weight only with no fuel and no trailer. Read the brochure carefully and ask the salesman. If buying from an individual see what they used and consult on trailer weight.
Not sure what your towing capacity is, but my husband and I have a 19 1/2 ft Sea Nymph and he's been pulling it with a 2000 Ford Ranger, V-6 w/3.0 liter engine. He had a Reese hitch mounted and we had a mechanic check to see that it had a cooler for the transmission. Everything's been okay so far, but now we're going to have to sell the boat because we can't handle loading and unloading it ( we're a little on the old side ).

14,000 pounds is way over the capacity of that truck. It may feel like it can pull it, but you will ruin the truck doing so very much.I had a 1993 175hp evinrude spitfire direct injection installed.?
Another problem with that size of truck is not enough brakes. Even if you can pull the trailer, can you stop it safely? With bigger trucks, come bigger brakes, radiators, and transmissions.
