Not being a road vehicle, my boat uses red fuel, and always has done. It the same stuff as road deisel, with a dye in it.
The tank & fuel systems are all dyed red, which can't realistcly be flushed out & cleaned.
I am now expected to pay an increase of six times the previous cost. Some mighty increase in yet more taxation.
I already pay British Waterways, the Inland Waterways Association, the fees for using certain bits of the system, and dear knows what else.
Farmers can still run tractors, combines, etc on red deisel.
What is he thinking, when it comes to boats.
Gordon, you obviously do not have a boat, just gas guzzlers.

I doubt it.
It is, in my opinion, another stealth tax, and should be evaded/ avoided. One of which is legal.

Hi. You are right we are all being ripped off over vat on fuel. One idea for not letting the tax man get his grubby paws on your hard earned cash, is to use vegetable oil. The cheapest sunflower oil you can by. To stay legal so as not to have your collar felt by the boys in blue, is to keep a record of what you bye and send the tax man his wedge. You still pay the tax but the actual cost is only about one third of the price of red or ordinary diesel. I think you only have to make some minor adjustments to your engine. There are allot of car drivers running around on veggie oil. I know that there is an enterprising firm in London going around collecting old used chippy oil and refining it then using it in there diesel waggons. Still paying the vat but there "fuel" only costs about 25pence a litre. Not that bad.Anything to wipe the smile off the vat man.
