I had a 1993 175hp evinrude spitfire direct injection installed.?

when i pick the boat up for a test drive I push the handle forward and the boat went in reverse. Could they have install the cable wrong or this type of engine uses a difference type of controls?.I had a crossflow engine before.

Sounds like they installed, what is called, a counter-rotation propeller on the lower unit of this engine. It's the wrong prop and should be replaced immediatley! It can cause damage to the internal bearings and gears of the lower unit if you use the engine in it's current configuration.
