Yamaha 15hp outboard How do you make it charge the battery.?

Sailing boat in Casino Royale?

If your Yamaha 15 HP engine has an electric start feature, it will have two cables that you connect to your battery. Now, keep in mind that these small displacement outboards have a limited capacity to charge a battery . . . usually less than 10 amps. As a result, if the battery you're trying to charge is less than capable of taking a charge, trying to use this Yamaha to charge this battery won't work out all that well for you. If the engine isn't charging that battery at all and you know you have a good, fresh battery (check the battery voltage before you start the engine and then after the engine is running . . . the voltage should be higher when the engine is running. Make sure you have water going to the lower unit of this engine when running, or engine damage will occur.) you might have something wrong with the regulator/rectifier or the lighting coils of the stator. To properly diagnose this, you'll need the service manual for this engine, a multi-meter and some electrical knowledge. The easiest thing to do if this turns out to be true is to take your Yamaha to an authorized Yamaha Outboard dealer and let them take it from there.

How to test a small engine ignition condenser?

Not to sure if the small Yamaha outboards have a generator in them to charge a battery. Take of the top cover and look to see if there are two thick HT wires normally black and red. If so you will need to start the outboard in a large bucket of water (For Cooling) and connect and multimeter to the two wires and check that you are getting above 12vdc out put.
