I live on a sailboat full time. And if you're in the English Channel in foul weather, you have my deepest sympathies. One of the things that Allied troops prayed for during the Normandy landings in 1944 was to get on dry land!You can't be getting tossed around too badly, though, since you can still actually USE the laptop and you aren't throwing up on it. This is something we sailors all know from loooong experience (every minute seems like an hour when you're seasick).
