I would like to buy a boat in the US and ship it to Europe. Something between 55 foot and 80 foot for personal use. Could be second hand could be new depending on the best financial deal.
I am looking for the cheapest way to ship this boat to Europe.

not really sure why you would want to buy a boat in the US and then ship it to europe. could understand if you already owned a boat in the US and moved to europe, but for the money it will cost you, you could buy a much better boat in europe. some of the best boat manufacturers in the world are european (italy and UK mainly) but im sure you have your reasons.Building Titanic 2 asking for trouble ?
i went the other way. i had mine shipped from the UK to the US (south carolina) i used roll on roll off shipping though, took about a week and is the cheapest shipping method, but the boat has to be capable of being towed onto a ship. ie, not in a cradle or cargo container. boat that size you wold need a shipping cradle. these are usually custom made to your boat, thus get epensive. be too big fo a container.
leaves you the cradle option or 'float on' where the ship is submersed and your boat is driven over it, then the ship is raised again and your boat is secured via temporary supports attached to the ships deck. this is cheaper in the sense, you dont need to pay to have the boat craned out of the water, transported to the loading dock, fitted with a cradle and then unloaded, transported to its destination and craned back into the water. however, this method is expensive in itself, and much harder to get shipped due to it not being a highly used method. price would be hard, 55-80 foot is a broad range and since price is usually per foot, would vary considerably between those lengths.
me personally it was about $2300 with customs but that was only 23 foot shipping lengthand i only needed to pay for the actual shipping, not transport cradle and craning.
id consider looking around europe first. check out princess yachts, sunseeker, etc before you venture across the pond.
