I would suggest that one learns to sail on a small sail boat as in a Sunfish. Power boat hull shapes do not sail well, sail boat hull shapes do not power quickly. The Macgregor water ballasted sail-power boat is not good at either and needs to be reefed at a 12 knot wind.
