What is this plug for?

I have a 1979 50 hp. Mercury outboard. There is a plug to the right side of the top lower unit plug that says 'flush' what is this for?

It is a plug to flush the engine but you will need a adapter from Mercury to connect to the hose.

British waterways SECTION 8?

this is used to flush the motor with. You hook up a garden hose to this connection, run the motor and it flushes the lower unit while on the trailer.

Anyone know if you can buy a plug in speedo for a 2002 YAMAHA 15HP 2 stroke outboard?

the plug you are looking at is for flushing the engine after seawater useage or at the start of the year i do it every year
