transporting of goods...... not so simple?

I have the same engine and experienced the same problem recently. I was instructed by a 30 year outboard mechanic to remove all 4 coils and clean the corrosion off the mounting point then reinstall. My problem was corrected by doing this. Apparently the coils can lose the ground connection to corrosion.

Would you rather die in a plane crash, boat sinking, or car wreck?

I also recommend a fuel additive called "SEAFOAM". I found that a can in the tank ever now and then will help prevent carbon build up and is the best pour in carb cleaner you can find. And it is not a new snake oil, it has been aound for years

biggest boat built?

I have a 1996 Evinrude 115 hp Intruder. It would do that now and again in till I ran some Merc quickleen gas treatment through the carbs. Doesn't do it anymore. This may not fix your problem but try it. You may just get lucky like I did. Let's do this before we get into other things.

How do you compare knots to miles per hour?

probably because you let the boat sit too long at periods of time and your carburators has gummed up with the lifters, you need to run some cleaner thru your motor, run boat motor cleaner thru the motor and the next time you know you won't will running the motor for a month or two need to put fuel stablizer in it and also it is good to when your on the water open it up and blow the cob webs out.

the prop hub could be starting to slip, take off the prop a use a center punch mark a dot on the hub and on the prop(across from each other) and try it again if the same problem occures check the markes , if the are not aligned the hub is starting to slip, hope this helps.

What is the purpose of a tug boat?

You have one or two problems! If you have replaced the obvious parts like you say but one or more of the carb's may have a shellack build up which will cause an intermittent failure and will get worse. Running any kind of carb cleaner through the intake manifold rarely works, the carb's have to come off and cleaned and shot through with carb and choke cleaner. Your prop has a rubber bushing that over time and wear will gradually and give way depending on the load on the boat. Get the boat on shore with the engine tilted, remove the spark plug leads, place it in forward or reverse gear and physically rotate the prop, if the prop moves but the shaft does not, that's your problem. Try to do this directly after you have run it for a while?
