Question:
Would for example I need to provide a car seat (impractical to carry around) or book a cab with one or (not a preferable alternative from safety perspective..) would a black cab take her without.. really tricky issue - what is the law? what is best practice? Thanks so much

you dont need a car seat in a cab. but if you want to be on the safe side you can call ahead and see if they have them. You will need to go to a garage that sells very small taxicabs as her feet will not reach the pedals .
the London taxi (or black cab as it is often called) have child seats built into the centre arm rest, just ask the driver.all you do is pull it down and it opens up int a child seat complete with seat belts. You need to get into one of the more modern ones such as the "TX1" model. Any newer than 7 years old should have them fitted as standard.
