Its a building when you get there you will go in and check in and you will be given a colour and then told to go the waiting area and then you be called by colour to board its like a huge gate area like at the airport! The hotel the De vere Grande is really close and its fantastic.

i don,t think i is just a gate,lol i live in southampton but don,t pay any attention,though there is plenty hotels with in easy reach such as the post house ,um novatel,ibis,um there is the grand de vere,though very expensive...i know when u board the ferries there is like a place where u can get coffee n that ,but not sure bout the big liners

dock gate 10 is very well sign posted from the A35 as you come into southampton. there is like a big building you drive past and then you go through customs etc. there are loads of hotels everywhere in southampton close by to suit any budget.

Hi Smiley, all the above are right about the hotels, i go into dock gate 10 every week and its just the name for the entrance you can go in through gate 20 but its not to safe for cars. These are the only two gate you can use, sometimes the gate entrance by the mayflower park is open but not always, when you get to gate 10 you go under the arch and take your first left at the round about and follow the signs for the QE2 and P&O. Thing about the hotels if you stand at the entrance to gate 10 with your back to the docks look past the traffic lights go over the railway bridge go right at the roundabout then left is hill lane and theres dozens of cheaper hotels also thats the road Benny Hill lived in, have a happy trip.
