I know this might sound stupid but do sail boats use fuel? Im not really experienced in boats. I need a boat that can carry the weight of 2 cars, and people and stuff to move from an island to another island. Would a sail boat be fit for this? How big would the boat have to be? are their any websites with good listings for big sailboats?

When you say the weight of 2 cars, do you mean 2 cars to be moved? Sailboats do not want the weight of 2 cars on the deck where cars would be. The distribution of the weight is important. Yes sail boats have an auxiliary engine. Sailboats are not built to carry a lot of cargo.If you are talking about a loing trip....Don't do it yourself ! hire a professional otherwise you could loose everything and everybody from one big wave!
But if it is just across a small bay then try to find a old "Barge that is in good shape. they are made for that kind of load and they are more stable than a boat in rough water. you will get wet but you'll get there better. as for power.....take the drive shafts loose from both cars and make special shafts that mount to the car ..through a bearing mounted on the back of the barge with a propeller for a large boat on each shaft. have one person in one car and one in the other. when you need to turn let off the throttle on one car and give gas to the other. if you need to turn sharper put one car in reverse and the other in forward. It works ! I've done it before...took alot of work but I did it !
