Question:
I have a Lund 16' aluminum boat with this 9.9 on it. Most of the lakes I fish are 9.9 or lower lakes. I have heard you can increase the power by installing a 15 horse carb. Can anyone help me with this?
Answers:
take more than a carb
yep, it'll take more than a carb. think about increasing the hp of an engine by 50%. why not get a 15hp and put a 9.9hp cowling on it?

In most all engine brands, close-horsepowered engines are the same block but may have different heads and carbs. How much is a 79 hydrostream viking worth?
Look up NADA, go into Boats, then Outboard Motors. Take a look at a brand and then look at a 90 and a 115... the weights are often only 2 or 3lbs off. Or a 150 and a 175... same block, different heads. Only a few pounds of weight difference.

My boyfriend is still missing after his boat capsized?
the guy ( i forgot his name ), who said they add more air than fuel is correct about that, however i do nto think that just a carb woudl make that big of a difference, thats 50%, think of changing the carb on a100 hp engine and make it 150 hp, not going to happen...you can port the exhaust and/ or oversize the pistions..i woudl go with the sticker idea unless someoene will check, throw on a larger powerhead, if your going through all this trouble bump it up to 20 hp minimumyes just the 15hp carb will do it!
