When a ship, boat is given a male name, is it referred in a male gender as is "he is a good ship"?
You'll need a soldering gun, some "Liquid Lectric tape" and some heat shrink tubing. The battery must be secured in a "Battery Box", put the bilge pump in the sump and secure, hook up hot lead (red) to switch, hook up switch lead to red terminal on battery, put an in line fuse to the black wire and ground it to the battery. Now ya bilge is done. Since your boat is under 16' (or 16'), I would use a "combo" red and green bow light (it's less wiring). Run a red wire lead, off the battery, to the switch, from the switch to the "Bow Light", ground the neg- lead from the light to an in-line fuse, grounded to the battery. Anchor light on stern: Run a the same as the bow light, a two position switch may be used, or wired seperately. How to make the proper "marine connection" . Solder (don't crimp" the ring terminals, solder may corrode on the outside but, inside the connection will remain "GOOD", slide heat shrink tubing over connection (don't forget to slide the heat shrink tubing over the wire first, before soldering, slide it way back or the heat from the soldering gun will shrink it before you're ready) and shrink w/ heat gun or a lighter, paint with "Liquid lectric tape", ya done, let dry....Great Idea for safety in case you get caught in the dark, one more thing.... ALWAYS WEAR YOUR LIFE JACKET ! it's the MOST important piece of equipment you have, put a light on that as well, a chemical stick costs about $1, tie it on your vest, it will last forever if unused, and there is no maint. on it, waterproof too, good luck, helpful links: www,whalercentral.com, www.theoutboardwizard.com, www.westmarine.com,www.overton...What is the best sealing material to paint a wooden boat with To seal and protect the wood?
I'd recommend you purchase quality items. If it's an aluminum hull it'll be easier as you only need to run a Positive wire.Make clean, shrink wrap connections & don't forgit to ad a fuse or 2it's relatively simple. use #14 wire, have nav. lites so you have bow & stern on one side of a 2-way switch & stern only on the other. fuse each circuit. and never ground anything to your boat. that's asking for electrolysis problems.
