Question:
I'm in the market and would like to know your opinion of each, ignoring that one is older than the other. Thanks in advance!

the Pontiac by far
is buying a car from a auction better than buying it from a car dealer?
I think the Pontiac looks better.whats a good second hand car to buy for around £30 - £35k only want one a year or two old?
In the latest Consumer Reports, the G6 tested so low, they could not even recommend it. The G6 tests this poorly in just about every comparison test I have read. Reliability is surprisingly OK, but resale and depreciation are horrible. When is the best time of the year to buy a new or used car?
I quote Consumer Reports:
Highs: Controls
Lows: Noise, braking, sloppy handling at the limits, ride, fit and finish, access, turning circle, steering, rear seat, front seats on 4 cylinder
The Impala fairs better, but it was redesigned for 2006. The 2005 model year still has the old school motors and transmissions, but has so far proven to be very reliable. It was/is popular among the police and rental car companies. It is competent enough, but really was not all that competitive in it's market segment. Resale and depreciation have also not been very good.
Avoid the G6 at all costs, GM should be embarrassed for putting out a car this lousy. You will be upside down on the loan, and will not get anything for it in a few years when you look to trade it. If it is solely these two cars, I would do the Impala, but that car is truthfully not that high on my list of gotta have cars. I would recommend a Honda or a Toyota, even if they are a few years older. Much more refined, and they hold their values much better.
