Question:
I sold my car to a dealer. They sent the money to my bank and my bank released the title to them. However, it has been over a month and he still has not called me to sign over the title. I want to take it on a business trip so I don't put miles on my new car. Who legally owns the car? He has the title, but it is still in my name.
Answers:
WHO EVER HAS NAME ON THE TITLE.
Is it cheaper to buy a car in your home state or out of state?
if should consider 2 things . 1 did you have a lien on your car that you sold if so the bank might had the right to releaase the tiltle if not you should contact the dealer and ask them to get you to sign off you do not want to let them sell the car with your name or have someon get in a wreck with you on title not signed off then ask for a copy to protect your own being ex used car dealer good luck.I need to rent/borrow a car for tonight URGENTLY! Can someone please help me!!?
I would say you all the way! The title is everthing. What is a good car for 10- 15k and its for a girl whos used to nice things?
You sold your car, and now you want to use it for a trip? You very likely signed Power of Atttorney documents, so the dealer could use your title, or you released interest on a form, and not the title. You sold it, period. You are not the owner, use your new car.when you signed to get the new car, if the dealer was paying your note, you also signed a release of title authorizing the dealer to obtain the new title with them listed as the owner. Since they probably already requested the title from the dmv, your title is now useless. Don't drive the car, it's not yours, in fact, you shouldn't even be in possession of the car.
