The first was a coupe I restored for my daughter, the seller was honest and the car was as described.

The second was a late model car for myself, It was half the price I would have paid locally, and is a beautiful, trouble free car.
The third was far worse than described, but even after repairs I still sold it with a small amount of profit.

Depends on the circumstances. Usually it's a bad idea, as you can't test the car, the Seller may want cash down payment, and may not give it back if you discover problems with the car. I've bought one car indirectly thru Ebay, and sold one , again indirectly, thru Ebay. Both times, not ON Ebay, but because of Ebay listing that didn't work out, but the cars got sold or bought because of new contacts thru that ad that weren't on Ebay. Both times, I was able to negotiate and see the (collector) car to buy, or I gave the buyer a chance to see the car first, neither of which is possible on Ebay. If you're buying a collector car, and get it cheap, then it may not be a bad thing, but if you can't get someone to look at the car for you before the auction closes , it's like Russian roulette with a gun to your head. I've heard horror stories, and good ones, but personally, unless you are looking for a project car and get it cheap, I'd pass on trying to buy a "good" car on Ebay.bad!

I bought one on eBay and it wasn't a bad deal. The seller, (a NJ used car dealer) lied about the transmission, but I already knew to expect it from them and also the fact that Fords have tranny problems. A lot of eBay purchases have a warranty that covers up to a certain amount of the purchase. JUST REMEMBER- BUYER BEWARE unless you have a specific written warranty.What sort of car would you want to own in the future?and why?

If you buy a car on eBay, you may or may not end up with a lemon. You are better off to buy a vehicle within your area that you can follow the proper process with. If you still aren't sure, watch people court. There are cases like this on there all the time.

I think car buying on ebay is high risk. You don't drive the car, you don't listen to the motor, you don't get to shift gears, go high and low speeds, make sure the body is aligned.
