I would recommend an Audi A4 TDI estate 2.5.. 5 years old or less 45 quid to fill the tank from bottom to top.. very economical and insurance not horrendous..

What is best? You probably don't have money to burn, so avoid French cars with their poor reliability and/or horrendous parts prices. Look to Japan, Germany and Sweden for 'best' if you mean durability and reliability. Otherwise Fords are one of the best very popular makes.
