Not scammed but I have received checks from Africa from someone trying to scam me. Best thing to do is do a little research. Call the bank and see if the check is real. If you try to cash it, you will be busted not the scammer.

These scams are all over the place. I had a car for sale a couple of months ago. I had three different people e-mail me saying they would buy my car and send me a cashier's check for more than the price of the car. I would have to set up freight for it through there company and then send back the rest of the money, if there was any. I looked into this through a fraud website, and it is a money laundering scam, and also a shipping for illegal product scam. They put the products in the car and hide them. If it is caught your name is on the shipping form, so you are held responsible. I am not saying these are the same people, but i would look into it very closely before accepting the payment.
