In terms of performance, the coupe is almost always better. They are lighter (convertibles need a lot more bracing), and always more rigid (a soft top is nowhere near as rigid as a solid metal top). Coupes also usually have a lower center of gravity as the metal top is lighter than the convertible one (a convertible is more top heavy).Lighter = faster
