Do not buy this car.It is not a steal. It needs the head gasket replaced.
Also, the car is sixteen years old and has a lot of power options. Those will start going bad soon if they have not already. When your AC does not work and you cannot roll down your windows, you won't be having much fun.
Instead of relying on your parents, save up some more money and buy something else later on. I have seen late 90's hondas go for 3000 or so. Much more reliable than this old beast and will also achieve better mileage. Oldsmobiles of this era were not known for their reliability (though, luckily this car does not have the horrible 4 cyclinder engine many of these cars have).

before u by a car have another mechanic look at it for u. trust me. if u have a job finance a car. figure out a monthly payment include insureance. that u can afford. you can keep the thousand or use it as a down payment. you get what u pay for. $700 you are looking at problems/ repairs.I have an idea...

it says right in the ad it needs a new head gasket. A headgasket on that car will cost more than the $700 you paid for it, and it wont run very long without one.

Find out how much a head gasket is. My boyfriend bought a car with a broken head gasket, and it was more expensive to fix than the car was. When he test drove the car, he thought it was fine, but two days after buying it it stopped running, and he basically paid $550 for nothing. I don't think buying a car with a broken head gasket is a good idea.Also, you should ask your parents for help. They will know how to help you, and what you should look for in a car.

you need to find out if the head gasket is blown or cracked, if its blown, ditch it, if its cracked you can drive it but you might want to baby it. plus the add doesnt inspire alot of confidence if a mechanic doesnt know the difference between a casket and a gasket.More Questions & Answers ...
