2007 Volvo S40 versus Peugot 407?

Which is more classier, cool, professional for a 33 year old male professional?

I have a volvo C70 and when it was in for a recent service they gave me and S40 and I have to admit it was lovely to drive, comfortable and an all round good car. Against the Peugeot it has to win hands down for credibility aswell as performance.

Volvo, no doubt about it. The car is less common than the 407, and has an aura of being a little more upmarket. In my opinion, it looks cool, as well.

The Volvo I'm afraid. The Peugeot 406 was a great car, good looking and fun to drive with a great ride. In comparison the 407 is dull with one of the longest front overhangs seen to man (look how far back the front wheel is when you see the car side on). It has decent diesels but the petrol line up is dated. Poor interior space with dodgy styling combine to make a disappointing car. You'd be better with a 406.

The Volvo on the other hand offers just as capable a chassis but with an entertaining drive. It's got a very nice engine line up with powerful and smooth 5 cylinder petrols and an ok diesel. The interior is a pleasant place to spend time and the car is likely to achieve much better resale values than the Peugeot. It's about as far removed from Volvos of old as you can get.
