What is the best car to buy under $10,000?

Question:
I am looking to buy a car within the next week. Any suggestions? $10K is the very most I want to spend. Doesn't have to be new. My want list? prefer 4 door, Decent Gas Mileage, Fairly roomy my hubby is tall, and not too pricey to insure.

late 60's -early 70's mussel car ,most get about 17 mpg if you drive them right..and the value goes up every year.

How much should this car cost?

Those hondas and toyotas are fairy expensive compared to other company's car, such as Dodge, Ford, etc,,,Domestic car. The reason? Hondas and Toyotas live up to their name.
If you are looking forward to buy a car in a dealer, my question to you is...is 10k out the door price? or is the 10k just on car's price?
Because all the tax and license should be around 10% of the car's price. (assuming that you are in Los Angeles Area due to sales tax - it's 8.25%)
